The San Remo Farming Company purchased Wha Hae, Myola (near Kuranda) in 1985 and so began the WH Brahman Stud. Bill Smith is the managing partner, of this family business, and constantly aims for the betterment of the herd. He believes that by going back to basics and recognizing animals with superior traits, structural correctness with weight for age improves herd quality and maximizes profits.

Today’s market demands that both commercial and stock stud are highly efficient in all aspects; and WH brand cattle meet this market therefore adding profitability to an enterprise. The WH Brahman stud is modestly sized; this enables us to advise prospective purchasers as to the temperament, workability and traits of each animal. We pride ourselves on being able to supply stock that are capable, quiet and are not compromised on structural soundness.

The genetics used by the San Remo Farming Co are selected specifically to compliment the herd without “blowing out” in any one particular trait, therefore resisting the temptation to follow a trend. The herd genetics are based on American bloodlines with Australian genetics and Gyr Brahmans. This infusion creates a high bred vigor within the breed which produces a medium framed, early maturing, and well fleshed animal. Imported bloodlines include Mr V8 700/3: JDH Karu Manso 800.

In the early years, the Stud was promoted successfully throughout the show circuit in Central, Western and Northern Queensland. During more recent times, tighter economic conditions have dominated and showing has been limited to a few local shows only.

In the same vein, we prefer to sell our stock out of the paddock rather than to transport for long distances for marketing/sales. Please feel free to contact Bill if you have any enquiries.
