welcome TO UPTON PARK BRAHMANS

The Upton Park Brahman stud was officially registered in August 2005. Previously May and Phil had run a commercial herd plus a small stud of the Cherokee line under the stud name of Julatten Brahmans. We decided to change our stud name and upgrade our herd through the use of embryo transplanting and artificial insemination concentrating mainly on the Hudgins line. With this in mind we purchased our first heifer FBC M Georga, a daughter of JDH Navasota Manso. Our first flush produced only one heifer. However, we have persisted with this plan and purchased 7 excellent heifers from the Brahrock Stud paying careful attention to pedigrees and semen used. Lancefield D 2453 was added to the herd in 2007. From these 9 heifers 85 calves have hit the ground through ET and AI. Other additions in the last year to the female herd have been FBC V Taliatha Manso, EL-JA Emma Manso (P), two lovely heifers from the Kenrol Stud and two females from the Mogul stud – one show polled who gave us a heifer in Dec 09 by EL-JA Budwiser and the other in calf to the polled bull Yenda K 12/7.

Unfortunately, Phil has had health problems in the last 2 years so the decision was taken to stop embryo transplanting, increase the female stud to around 20 and purchase a bull. We will keep some of the females that we have bred such as those with sires such as JDH Mr Deeds, Tartrus Aristotle, V8 51/6, JDH Mr Manso 258/4, V8 440/4, JDH Brooks Manso and JDH Mr David Manso. We are very pleased with the Caryna bull purchased this year. The $25,000.00 bull, Caryna Harrison is a beauty by JDH Navasota Alan Manso out of a JDH Sir Mitchell Manso cow. We are hoping for great things from the mix of genetics carefully chosen. One vital factor in our choice of animals apart from natural bone, meat and muscling is that they be gentle and quiet.

We are fortunate to live in a beautiful area up in the hills and visitors are always welcome to come and join us on our veranda overlooking paddocks and mountains to either have a cuppa or a sun-downer or two.
